Get the large if you are an adult, even a smaller adult. I'm only 5'2 and the large are good for me. You can always trim some off the bottom if it's jabbing into your ankle. They do tend to rotate a bit when I play, even with shin tape. So I do have to fuss with them sometimes. They don't last forever but they are cheap enough to replace occasionally. My last pair lasted at least a year and that's with league play 2-3 times a week and tournaments every couple of months. Leave yourself plenty of time to set the straps up for the first time. They are a pain in the butt to set up but easy after that. Wish Mylec sold replacement straps separately since they are easy to lose but once you're on your second pair it's not an issue, provided you take the straps off your old pair before chucking them. FYI, Mylec has a new dek hockey shinguard out that is pretty fancy (and costs twice as much), you can't really find them online yet but check the shop at your local rink. They look really nice if you want a step up from these basic ones.
SIZING ....these were too small. kid's size. i first ordered the mediums.so i returned them and got the larges. the larges are adult size. Larges weren't just longer, they were also bigger. the knee shape was much bigger on the Larges.SMALLS - 11" - is from the middle of the kneecap. I didn't order these. Knee cap size is small.MEDIUM - 13" - is from the middle of the kneecap. These are small. Knee cap size is small.LARGES - 15" - they are bigger. These are more than 2" bigger than the mediums. there are maybe 3" bigger than mediums. Knee cap size is bigger than the other sizes.EXTRA LARGE - there is no extra large.EXTRA SMALL - the material could probably be cut easily.i'm 6'0" tall with short legs (i'm told)the straps take a good 10 - 15 minutes to setup.they're light. i'll be using these for ball hockey. these are the same you'll find in the stores.
Bittersweet. Cheap and they've taken a beating. However, if you want to get an idea of how hot they are, wrap your legs in trash bags and go run a 10k. Also, I personally have a really hard time keeping them up where they belong. Knees get exposed easily. In the winter I wear hockey socks over them and tape them but the summer is brutal on all levels. Not many better options though. For the price they're hard to beat, but I would pay 3x as much for something more breathable that stayed up.
