These mouthgaurds are AMAZING!! Firstly, let us address the multiple reviewers who have complained about the mouth gaurds being way too small. YES when they arrive they look as if they are supposed to be used to protect the toughest two year old child in the world! They are super super small.... however, this is because they are not customized for your child!! The very first thing you have to do is make a dental impression for your child's mouth! This is a benefit of the mouth guard NOT a detriment! It is the exact same process you use with every other mouth guard. Give three bowls. Boil about 5 inches of water, put lukewarm (room temp) water in the second, and then ice water in the third. Bring the water to a boil and pour it into the first bowl. Now tether the mouth guard, (put the little string that comes with it into the front). Place the entire mouth guard into the boiling water no longer than 45 seconds. Place it in the like warm water two seconds, and then place it in the child's mouth for 40 seconds. Make sure it aligns with the front of the mouth and that they suck the liquid from it the entire time. When complete, place the mouth guard in the ice water for 5 minutes. Finally, place it back in the child's mouth for 40 seconds to check fitting. It is fine if you mess up because you can repeat the steps if needed. The flavor.... is awesome. It is so strong that when new you can smell it. Best of all is the taste lasts game after game after game. I do however suggest you purchase a case simply because it is placed inside their mouth each time.
Good value, my 8 year old liked them. The only issue is that where the tether connects is the same material that softens to mold the mouthpiece. First one went okay, but on the second one it was soft enough to pull the tether through while trying to mold to his teeth. At that point there was no way to attach tthe tether, which doesn't work for pee-wee football.
My son loves these mouth guards!! He says they have a great flavor & fit his 7, almost 8 yr old mouth perfectly.
