CCM FitLite 40 Hockey Helmet Combo

★★★☆☆ My 7 y.o. twins both play hockey 9 months out of the year and my son's youth hockey provided Bauer 2100 was too narrow. He was having to leave the ice to take helmet off for a couple of minutes because of headaches. Since he used an older, club provided, CCM helmet last year, we asked the youth hockey equipment manager to give us a measurement and we would pick up one ourselves. His head circumference 56.5 cm (which I verified), right in the middle of the seller's stated helmet size (m), so that is the we purchased based on their description.We took the helmet out of the box and adjusted the length to the largest it would get and we could not even get in on far enough to get both chin straps buckled. We don't have a hockey store or sporting goods store close enough, 2.5 hour drive 1 way, where we can just drive down one afternoon and try on helmets. We have no choice but to rely on the expertise of the seller in their sizing guides. I guess it would have been good knowledge to know that in this case it has more to do with length than width of the head.I believe that this is a great out of the box solution for people with average head shapes, but rounder or wider heads may be uncomfortable at best. He is 4'5" and weighs 55 lbs, so it is not because of a fat head.If you have a wide or rounder head, you may want to think twice about this model.

★★☆☆☆ Really hard to use... I'm not sure if it's just this brand or hockey helmets in general, but the struggle to get this on (it was sooo hard to press the snaps together, all of them, and it was hurting my son while we struggled and pushed them) made us give up on hockey altogether. It shouldn't be this hard to get the gear on.

★★★★★ Fits great on my 8 year old daughter. The ability to adjust the size of the helmet is great.
