This thing is amazing. I've put about 1000 pucks at it and no problems so far. Lots of scuffs on the pipes and a couple dents from my blistering slappers, but is definitely holding up. The backstop is amazing if you are firing pucks in your back yard. I've only put one over the fence into my neighbors back yard so far. I just got kicked out of my beer league for allegedly being a ringer, which I am going to attribute solely to owning this net. I'm well on my way to the chel.Stringing the net onto the pipes is such a PITA. My suggestion is to bribe a buddy with a few beers to come over and each work on one side. I did this and it worked great.
First off people here are negatively reviewing ether the company that ships it or because they are idiots and ordered incorrectly. I received everything pictured and it folded up exactly as shown. The goal is very sturdy and can handle any from of projectile. I have shot rubber pucks, plastic pucks and every type of outdoor street hockey balls; All without even leaving a dent on the frame.Setup was a little tedious, and I wish I would't have pulled the goal net soo tight, as now the ball bounces out of the goal when soothing too hard... but, it's fixable if I want to re-string the net.Breakdown and storage takes a few times to master, but now I can do it in a few minutes and it is a nice feature for tucking away in the garage. The only con I have is the way the 4 corner pockets are assembled makes it hard for you to score a goal by the ball rolling in on the ground. All 4 pockets are connected to one strap so when assembled and tight there is a strap going along the bottom of the ground. Minor, but inconvenient when practicing.Great buy and I would deffanently recommend to my friends
The pipes on the goal itself are heavy duty by general consumer standards, meaning they are not the kind of pipes on the net at your local rink, but that would make it too heavy to be mobile. Nonetheless the pipes can take ice hockey pucks pretty well as long as you're not an adult ripping clappers from eight feet away, you'll see plenty of scuff marks and maybe some dents but no overall failure of the frame.Assembly of the structure is simple, it's a standard spring-lock pipe to pipe connection. I would recommend assembling the upper shelf of the net piece by piece because if you assemble it separately and then try to place it on the goal, you'll just cause yourself a headache. I did receive the curved base version of this goal, but they shipped the standard netting for the rectangular base meaning the net is tighter then it should be and I had to re-string it to be looser meaning I ran out of the string they provide and had to use my own, this is the reason for 4 and not 5 stars. As you align the net and tie it off at six locations to keep it in place and proceed to string it, I suggest not over-tightening as you loop the net through the steel net loops, just give it a little tug so there isn't much slack in the rope but don't pull too hard. You may run out of rope towards the bottom, but your net won't be too tight and some nylon string is always cheaper then a replacement net.The backstop is much lighter duty then the net itself, and if you string it as instructed the net will be rather tight and be more prone to breaking. I suggest getting some more nylon rope and stringing it a bit looser so the backstop netting lasts longer.I also recommend going to your local hardware store and getting some styrofoam or rubber pipe insulation for the back pipe in the goal, as this pipe is lighter duty than the posts and crossbar and takes just as much if not more punishment.Overall a solid goal, and I would recommend it to players of all ages who want to improve their game.
